MINO-LUX - Porcelain Lighting Object
Ákos Tamás porcelain artist, designer of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory Ltd.05/02/2010
The special appearance and uniqueness of the MINO-LUX lamps are given by the translucency of the high fired noble Herend porcelain. The translucency varies depending of the wall thickness, and thus with the so-called litophan effect the porcelain material provides a unique opportunity to make creative lighting surfaces in a wide variety.
The 28-35 cm high cylindrical or oval-shaped MINO-LUX lighting objects have matte white surfaces. The tops are open, so they are well ventilated and emit direct light at a slight angle to the ceiling, while in the horizontal direction they radiate intimate, subtle diffuse light efficiently. In addition to their unique appearance as sculpture and surface pattern they give pleasant and soft lighting.
Due to their uniqueness the MINO-LUX lighting objects are made in small series in the Herend Porcelain Manufactory. These lamp sculptures created in contemporary design approach complement the huge range of classic porcelains of the Manufactory. Designed and created by Ákos Tamás, porcelain artist, designer of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory.
